chairless, by vitra

this is chairless, by vitra. designed by alejandro aravena, it is a design based upon a tradition by ayoreo indians in northern paraguay (see photo below).

2 chairs + 1 table = ladder

i know i do this, so why shouldn’t something be designed to make it safer.

Shira Keret has made a small kit of non-slip grip pads to make this safe for both you and the furniture. Injected silicon treads grip the surface of the table and the bottom of your shoes, while a [...]

the tank, by pharrell williams

the moment i saw this on dezeen, i knew that the majority of the (currently 64!) comments would be slating it. but, you know what? it’s not really that bad. after seeing the below image, of him sitting on it, i think it’s actually quite cool! as one of the less offending comments points out, [...]

The idea [...]

non rocker

this chair, designed by an ex maths and PE teacher from london, is (apparantly) untippable.
a fact i didnt know, is that every year, 7,000 pupils are admitted to hospital as a result of chair-related accidents, and 70 per cent resulted from rocking back dangerously, according to government statistics.
the max chair, created by the design [...]
