this is the roll bag, by marti guixe for authentics. like most of authentics’ products, the idea for this design is so simple, and doesn’t really need any explaining at all! the bags come in three sizes, are easy to clean, and come in some great colours too. as the photos below show, they would be perfect as either a lunch bag, or a toiletry bag, or anything else you could want to store in them.

they are available from madeindesign for between £10 and £15, which is a pretty good price i think! if you go to the authentics website, you will see many similarly useful products, the only downside being the whole site is in german (which makes navigating it a bit difficult if you don’t speak it).

previously, i have posted on marti guixe’s latest collection for alessi, which is another great food related find worth checking out.

i saw the new alessi collection by spanish designer marti guixe today, and my eye was caught by two of the designs in particular. above is the ‘communicator plant’, which has a trunk and branches for holding notes (presumably green post-its for best effect), as well as the pot for holding everything else.

the other product i liked best was the ‘24h sentence maker’. i’ve seen a few blank-clock-with-pen ideas before, but none with an explanation as strange as this:

24h sentence maker wall clock allows one to measure time with sentences. the hours are represented by words. ‘is‘ is written in the middle of the clock connecting the words to create a new sentence every hour, 24 sentences a day. for example: ‘design is desire’.

after winning a (previously mentioned) lego watch on ebay for 99p, i saw two very nice (and much more expensive) watches in a design shop in oxford. i figure, girls can have lots of different pieces of jewellery, so why can’t i have lots of watches?

anyway, the above picture is the alessi kaj watch designed by rashid karim, which is made of polyurethane and new this year. it cost £65 in the shop i saw, and is very nice indeed. below are some more colours.

in the same shop, i saw a selection of mondaine swiss rail watches. its such a simple design, it looks great. they’re a little more expensive (starting at about £100), but hopefully one day i can own one…
