gorillapod

i don’t know why i havn’t done a post on the gorillapod yet, as i have had it for a couple of months now, and have already been raving about it on my twitter feed, as well as to everyone i know.
if you’ve never heard of one before, it is basically a very flexible tripod [...]

ingenious plug [re]design

i have always wondered why british electrical plugs need to be so much bigger than foreign ones. this is a video of a design that improves it a lot. there might be some things i am missing, but as far as i can see, this idea is near flawless!
an excellent piece of industrial design, and [...]

issey miyake watches

it’s been a while since i saw a new watch i really like, but today i found it! ‘twelve’ was designed by naoto fukasawa, and the illuminous looking blue one in particular is my favourite. prices are around the £300 mark.
below is the ‘twelve 365′ watch, the variation being the extra hands, but i prefer [...]

bamboolarule

above is the bamboolarule, from baskerville studio, which i saw via itsnicethat. apart from looking nice, they are actually extremely functional. from their site:
inspired after watching the difficulty an arthritic person has with picking up flat objects. now there’s one less to worry about.

i can’t imaging them being the best quality ever, but for most of those products, [...]

hacoa diy keyboard (with saw!!)

i did a post the other week on hacoa (here), a company that makes wooden office things. what i hadn’t noticed though, was this. a diy keyboard sounds cool enough, but the fact that it comes with a mini hand saw that you need to use to cut the keys out makes it even better!
thanks [...]

2 cool lego related things

jan vormann repairs walls using lego bricks. i saw something about this a while ago, and have just spotted it again on designboom. from that article:
in his ongoing project ‘dispatchwork‘ artist jan vormann uses LEGO bricks to repair damaged walls. he started by patching-up surfaces in bocchignano, italy and has since employed the technique on [...]

design at harrys + rave design 09

i have just put up two new websites; the first is my own, with fellow product designer harry worth. check it out at www.designatharrys.com
the second is ravedesign09, the website for my product design class at ravensbourne college. it has not yet had all the content added to every person’s page, that will probably be done [...]
